About Me
I'll Keep tHIS quick ...
Torn between the mystical siren's call of the coast and the lure of live music in grungey bars, I'm a water sign, crazy dog lady and music obsessive.
I have a BA in Communications from the University of Technology, Sydney majoring in print journalism and radio.
I've worked full time and freelance on local newspapers and magazines for over 20 years.
My feature articles have appeared in print and online titles including The Sydney Morning Herald and Cream magazine.
My published memoir work includes:
- 'Magpie Medicine' personal essay (2023: The Big Issue, edition 697)
- 'Precious Cargo', on sibling loss, in Grieve vol.10 anthology (2022: Hunter Writers Centre)
- 'Small, Brown Stains' on sibling loss, in US literary/art journal Months To Years (2022)
- Music memoir pieces featured on the Stereo Stories website (2021)
- 'Cover versions', on what 7" record cover art meant to teenage me, in Product 45: Australian Punk/Post-punk Record Covers (2015: Inner City Sound)
- 'A Gentle Giant Finds His Feet', on my early days volunteering with Delta Therapy Dogs in Dogs that Make a Difference (2014: Penguin Books Australia)
My creative non-fiction writing explores grief, living with complex trauma and chronic pain, music, the body and the self.
In my spare time, I sing with a rock band called The LangLangs, and I live and work on unceded Gadigal land in inner west Sydney, Australia.
MEMOIR IN THE WORKS
I'm currently writing a book-length memoir about how my older brother's unexpected death has forced me to reconcile our traumatic past, our turbulent relationship, and their impact on my sense of self - steered by the music that fuelled it all.
